The Freemasons of Urmston have donated a bench to residents in a bid to create a stronger sense of unity within the community.

Freemason Eddie Wilkinson, of Flixton Lodge No 4869, raised funds to create the bench and transport it from Scotland where it was created.

The bench is situated in the heart of Urmston, on Flixton Road near the railway station entrance.

A plaque on the bench reads: "Province of West Lancashire, South Eastern Group. This bench has been gifted to the local community by the Freemasons who meet at Urmston Masonic Hall. 'Please have a seat.'"

The Freemasons of Urmston are aiming to make a positive impact on the lives of residents by creating spaces that promote social interaction and relaxation in the community.
