A missing man was discovered dead in a canal close to a bridge between Salford and Trafford.
The police attended a report of an abandoned car close to Centenary Bridge at around 10.40am yesterday.
They searched the water and the woodland alongside the fire service and an underwater team.
A missing man was discovered dead in the canal at around 6.20pm yesterday.
The police started an investigation and although identification is still to be finished, the family of the missing man were informed. They are receiving support from officers.
There is no other information on the identity of the missing man at this time.
