A person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after an incident on the tracks at Humphrey Park train station.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the emergency services were called to the train station at 8am on Monday (June 26).

A person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

But the incident on the tracks is not thought to be suspicious.

A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Humphrey Park railway station at 8am on June 26 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics attended and a person has been taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. This incident is not being treated as suspicious."

Trains between Manchester and Warrington were cancelled or delayed.

At around 9.20am, a National Rail spokesperson said: "Lines reopened following the emergency services dealing with an incident between Manchester and Warrington."
