A brass band is celebrating '10 years of tooting' with a concert at the end of the month.
Flixton Community Band, an offshoot of Flixton Brass Band, was established a decade ago by Danny Lowery, Paul Thomason and Wendy Spencer.
Initially, it was envisaged the brass band would be for children, but it became clear a lot of adults would be interested to take up an instrument too.
Today, its members range from eight years old to 80 years old.
The brass band is celebrating '10 years of tooting' with a concert at the John Alker Club on April 30.
The repertoire includes a premiere of an original composition by one of the members, Lee Pritchard.
Mr Lowery, now the musical director, said: "I can’t wait for our audience to hear how much the band has developed and improved over the past 10 years.
"The band can now play music from a much wider repertoire and having an original composition written especially for us is another large step forward."
