The M60 was closed in both directions over concern for the welfare of a woman close to the Trafford Centre.

The emergency services attended the incident at around 3.30pm on Monday, according to National Highways.

In a post on social media at around the same time, GMP Trafford said these closures in both directions were due to 'concern for the welfare of a female'.

The M60 was closed for some two hours, until at around 5.30 the road reopened, National Highways said.

There was no update from GMP Trafford at the time, but it is understood the woman was taken to safety.
