A popular chippy in Urmston has closed its doors after 30 years of serving the community.

Kong's Fish and Chips on Woodsend Road in Flixton, dished up its last chippy tea to customers on Saturday (November 5) amid reports the owners have retired.

The chippy, which is now permanently closed, was a firm favourite with fish and chip fans in Trafford and was rated 4.8 stars on Google.

Just a week ago one reviewer wrote “Closing soon. So sad. Been a favourite chippy since I was a child. A mainstay in the community. One of the reasons I am the size I am. Excellent food. Traditional chippy.”

Three months ago, another wrote: “Best chippy I've ever had. Grew up going there at school on dinner of pea fritters, chips and gravy. Amazing and I've just had some bad news that Kong’s is closing down”.

A third wrote: “All the staff are like family and very welcoming to all customers. The food is amazing. I've been coming since school years. Everything is clean and fresh 10 out of 10.”

A fourth added: “Love the fish and chips and curry sauce. So sad they are closing”.

Photographs released of the fish chip shop’s last day open on Saturday show large queues of customers waiting for a final taste of a Kong's chippy tea.
