A nation is in mourning after Buckingham Palace announced the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

There are large crowds outside the palace itself, but there are also places for residents to contribute to a book of condolence and offer a floral tribute in Trafford.

A statement by Trafford Council reads: "Trafford Council, its mayor, councillors and officers, are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

"On behalf of our borough, we would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to all the members of the Royal Family at this time of mourning."

There are places for residents to contribute to a book of condolence at Altrincham Town Hall, Sale Waterside and Trafford Town Hall.

These are in peaceful areas to allow a moment of reflection.

The council leader, Cllr Andrew Western, was the first to sign the one in Altrincham on Friday.

To offer a floral tribute, there is an area reserved in the sunken gardens at Trafford Town Hall.

The flags at the town hall and all other council buildings are at half mast as a mark of respect.

Finally, on Sunday at 3pm, there is a public proclamation at Trafford Town Hall of King Charles III by the Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Chris Boyes.

Here are the timings to contribute to a book of condolence:

Altrincham Town Hall - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, until September 20.

Sale Waterside - Monday and Friday, 10am to 7pm; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10am to 5pm; Saturday, 10am to 4pm, until September 20.
