A man has been charged following a violent burglary which took place in Altrincham.
Jason Edwards, of Marthall Drive, Sale, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and aggravated burglary.
On Sunday, August 14, a man was said to have gone to an address in Lloyd Gardens while concealing a bladed weapon.
The victim reported to police that the man knocked on the door and when the door was opened, he entered the property and demanded to speak to the homeowner while brandishing the weapon.
He then left when it became apparent the person he was looking for was not at the address.
Edwards, 35, was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning and was detained in police custody before being charged.
He was arrested following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Trafford Criminal Investigation Department.
Edwards is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates court this morning (August 17).
