An Altrincham children's nursery opened around five years ago received an outstanding rating at its first inspection.

Inspectors from Ofsted appeared at Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery in June, and published a report at the end of July.

The children's nursery on Market Street, which cares for around 60 pre-schoolers from three months to five years old, was opened around five years ago by owners Laura Cardy and Nicola Cooper.

Inspectors praised their establishment across all areas and so awarded it an outstanding rating at its first inspection.

The report reads: "Children blossom in this well-organised, high-quality nursery.

"They are warmly welcomed at the main entrance by enthusiastic staff and happily find their friends as they start an exciting, joyful day of learning.

"Children lead their own play and explore their creative imagination, inspired by the stimulating range of resources, in cosy and comfortable spaces.

"They concentrate well and develop a deep curiosity to explore and test out their own ideas."

It adds: "Babies benefit from the calm and encouraging staff as they try new experiences.

"For example, the babies babble gleefully as they pour water from different containers within the water tray."

The day nursery, which is one of more than 60 in the Monkey Puzzle family, was also praised for the behaviour of the children and the provision for those with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).

The report reads: "Children are extremely happy in nursery and show they feel safe.

"They build strong attachments with the nurturing, highly experienced staff.

"Children's behaviour is exemplary, they are sociable, confident and form great friendships with each other.

"For example, children encourage their friends into nursery by offering to share their toys and inviting them to play.

"Staff have high expectations for all children and plan an effective curriculum with all children in mind.

"All children, including those with SEND, make notable progress."

Responding to the rating, owners Laura and Nicola said: "As the owners of Monkey Puzzle we are immensely proud of this achievement. We have put our heart and soul into delivering outstanding childcare since we opened.

"It is great to see that our staff team have been recognised for their dedication, hard work and passion whilst providing the very best Early Years care and education to the children within our Monkey Puzzle family."
