Proposals for an all-weather pitch in Sale are up for a public consultation for the third time.

Crossford Bridge was once under consideration as the site of a stadium for Sale Sharks, but it is now protected from development under a Fields in Trust arrangement for at least 25 years.

In partnership with the Crossford Bridge Management Association (CBMA), Trafford Council wants to add an all-weather pitch on the area used by Old Altrinchamians FC at the moment, which is the closest to the M60 and therefore the furthest from homes.

But in an attempt to involve people in the process, its proposals are up for a public consultation for the third time.

Cllr Jo Harding, Trafford Council's executive member for culture, leisure and strategic partnerships, said: "The council has been in close consultation with the CBMA on the proposals and we are now seeking the views of the local residents for the third time.

"We want to know what residents think and we will of course take every view into account when coming to our decisions. Residents can always be assured that they will be consulted with at every step as we continue discussions surrounding these proposals."

A spokesperson for the CBMA added: "The CBMA are keen to continue our close relationship with local residents and we want to hear your thoughts and questions on this potential project.

"We are working hard to create improved facilities for all on the site whilst also ensuring the protection of the much loved and needed green space by working with Fields in Trust to protect the site in perpetuity."

To participate in the public consultation, people are invited to a face-to-face event at Crossford Bridge on Thursday, between 6.30 and 8pm, which is followed by an online form on Friday.
