A TRAFFORD College student who cooked up a storm in a Chinese cuisine competition is in with a chance to win £3,000.

Lauren Firth won the college's heat of Wokstar 2022 last month, and is now set to compete against the winners from other institutions in the final this Friday.

Lauren impressed judges Mike Jennings, Kendra Kirby and Anson Bolton with her starter, main and dessert, all of which were inspired by the taste of China.

Mike, chair of the judges and founder of Hospitality Hut, said: "It was fantastic to see such an energetic and enthusiastic group of students compete in the heat.

"The level of cooking was extremely high with a very detailed approach. All of the students taking part can be proud of what they achieved. We look forward to seeing Lauren and the other students in Liverpool."

While Lauren won the college's heat overall, there were other winners for each individual course as well. Ben Nutton won the best starter, Hayden Wilde won the best main and Tom Myers won the best dessert.
