SCHOOL children have helped to decorate bunting for town centre shops to celebrate Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

School children in reception, year one and year two from 24 schools in Burnley were invited to decorate, design, colour, paint or collage the bunting, which is now being used to decorate shops by Burnley based estate agents Property Shop.

The estate agent teamed up with Charter Walk shopping centre, Burnley Town Centre BID and Burnley Market Hall to deliver the decorations to businesses across the town.

The campaign, which was designed to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, is also encouraging people to shop local, with Little Barista, Massarella, Florist Lancashire, Burnley Bus Station, BFC In The Community, McDonalds, Beauty Spot Warehouse, Sweet William Florists, Labels and the Pennine Community Credit Union amongst the local businesses displaying the wonderfully designed bunting.

Visitors to Burnley will get a chance to see the bunting during a special event in the town on Saturday, June 4, which will include a bagpiper performing in the town centre, a 1940's style band in Charter Walk, a town centre march by the Pendle Sons of Ulster plus much more.

Managing Director at Property Shop, Steven Chippendale said: "The response from our young people has been fantastic.

"These children are extremely talented and they should be really proud of what they have produced.”

Centre Manager at Charter Walk and Burnley BID member Debbie Hernon said: "We are thrilled to be working with Property Shop on another project in our community and it has been brilliant to see children all around the town really getting involved and celebrating the Queen's Jubilee in style."
