With Easter coming up there are plenty of things to do right here in Trafford to keep the whole family entertained. 

If the reviews and ratings on these attractions on Tripadvisor are to be believed, there is no shortage of things to do in and around our borough.

1. Old Trafford

The best-ranked attraction in Trafford. Manchester United’s stadium isn’t just open on match days – the Museum & Stadium tour and Red Café are open to visitors. Tickets are £25 per adult and £18 per junior/concession, when pre-booked. Walk-up prices are more expensive.

The tour gives visitors the chance to see the players’ tunnel, walk next to the pitch, and visit the dugouts – as well as a view from the Ability Platform. Children’s birthday party experiences are also available.

2. Walkden Gardens

Second on the list of things to do, these gardens in Sale are usually open 9am to 7pm in the summer – with visitors advised to check times on the car park noticeboard.

Outdoor stage events are regularly held in the summer, too.

Rating the gardens 5/5, Tripadvisor user Chrisdcool said: “Nice park lovely scenery and lots to do love this park so much especially the gardens so relaxing and calm.”

3. Imperial War Museum North

Open 10am to 5pm daily, this purpose-built museum tells powerful stories of over a century of war. Admission is free, though advanced booking is advised for timed entry. Walk-up tickets are also available, but queuing may be required at busier times.

The museum also has plenty of family activities planned for Easter – including a taste of wartime chocolate with the museum's chef.

4. Altrincham Market

Altrincham may have recently lost its top spot on the Sunday Times’ list of best places to live, but this popular market is absolutely worth a visit.

Dog friendly and walk-in only, the market is open for shoppers on Tuesday and Friday 8am to 3pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

The Market House is open Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 10pm, and Sunday 9am to 6pm.

Tripadvisor reviewer Madalyn H called it a "great experience", writing: “Excellent venue for a casual early evening dinner in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Tacos were very tasty and delightfully presented.”

5. SEA LIFE Manchester

An aquarium that brings the deep ocean to Trafford Palazzo.

Tickets are available for £21.95 per adult online and £16.95 for under 18s. Under 3s go free. The attraction is cashless so make sure to bring a card.

Or if you're a regular visitor to SEA LIFE and other Merlin attractions across the UK you can get a Merlin Annual Pass for £159 per person or £9.99 a month (plus a £39.99 joining fee) per person.

6. Urmston & District Model Engineering Society

A miniature railway operated in Abbotsfield Park since 1948. It runs every day throughout the year except Christmas Day and some bank holidays, weather permitting.

One of the largest elevated tracks in the country, rides cost just 30p per adult or child.

Reviewer Trev K said: “Brilliant family entertainment. Three Generations of our family all enjoying the railway together. It was a lovely experience and great to share with my daughter and grandchildren.”

7. The Trafford Centre

Massive shopping centre with plenty of stores, there’s something for everyone.

Open Monday to Friday 10am until 10pm, 10am to 9pm on Saturdays, and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays.

8. Dunham Massey Hall & Gardens

A National Trust property with a beautiful all-seasons garden, 17th-century house, and even an ancient deer park.

Park and gardens adult tickets are £8 per person, children £4. Family tickets (two adults, up to three children) are £20, or a one-adult family ticket is £12. Group tickets are also available.

House & Servant courtyard tickets, which can be purchased in addition to the park and gardens tickets, come in at £6 per adult, and £3 per child. Family tickets are £15 or £9 for a one-adult family.

9. Legoland Discovery Centre

Indoor Lego theme park. Pre-booking is essential and attraction is cashless throughout.

Over-15s are priced at £21.95 per person (must be accompanied by a child). 3 to 14-year-olds are priced at £16.95 per person, and under-3s go free.

10. Worthington Park

Sale-based public park with a prestigious Green Flag Award. This park features an open-air green gym as well as plenty of flora and fauna.

Tripadvisor reviewer Danny316 rated the park 5/5, writing: “A really pleasant park to easily walk around come rain or shine. It also has good clean toilets that are usually open during the day should you have need for them.”
