THIS weekend's Stretford Market is the last due to the redevelopment of the town centre.

The market is outside Stretford Mall between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, but no more afterwards as the council and Bruntwood prepare to start work on the scheme.

Organiser Annika Edge described it as a bittersweet moment for her and all others involved.

She said: "It's bittersweet, hosting our last ever market this weekend.

"We're excited to host one last market extravaganza in Stretford, offering our community a broad range of locally sourced produce, and a place to meet their neighbours while doing their weekly shop, as well as allowing our vendors to say goodbye to their regular customers, but it is sad to see the market go after years of hard work, setting this up for our local town."

Started in 2015, the market supports the area's businesses with an emphasis on sustainability.
