ORGANISERS of the Manchester Marathon have released an interactive map of the road closures for the run.

The marathon, which returns to its usual time six months after a rearranged one in October, is on Sunday, April 3.

The route starts and ends in Old Trafford, and also takes in Stretford, Sale and Altrincham.

To allow runners to compete in safe conditions, a number of roads in the area are closed.

These road closures are at different times between 8am on the Saturday and midnight on the Sunday, and can be crossed in specific locations.

All of the information is contained in the interactive map, as well as in downloadable and printable maps on Manchester Marathon's website.

Arrangements for the marathon and its route are up for constant review, with councils, police and Transport for Greater Manchester all involved.

The website reads: "Closures will be in effect along the marathon route and those that are open will be very busy. Many bus services will be diverted due to these closures.

"We recommend using Metrolink to travel to and from the race as there are several stops close to the athlete village, start line and finish line in Trafford."

Information is also available on Transport for Greater Manchester's website.
