A FREEMASON from Urmston who earned royal recognition for his work in lockdown is set to turn his attention to the crisis in Ukraine.

Ezra McGowan, who runs a charity called The Forget Me Not Trust, was struck by images of refugees who fled from the invasion.

In lockdown, Ezra received a commendation from Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, plus a Special Recognition Award from the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, for food and essentials delivered to the homeless and others in need.

He is set do the same for refugees, but needs support from the public in order to achieve it.

Ezra said: "These are human beings just like you and me, they are wives, mothers, sisters and children fleeing for their lives and having to leave their men behind to fight for their country.

"They are desperately seeking help from the west and I, especially as a Freemason who devote their lives to supporting others, would like to do all that is humanly possible to help these poor people who are going through immeasurable turmoil. I hope you can assist me in supporting them."
