AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a teenager who was stabbed in Stretford.

Kennie Carter died at Manchester Royal Infirmary from a stab wound to the chest after an attack on Thirlmere Avenue on January 22.

The attack was around the corner from the 16-year-old's home on Ennerdale Road.

On Friday, at Manchester South Coroner's Court in Stockport, area coroner Chris Morris said the cause of Kennie's death made an inquest inevitable.

Mr Morris said: "Tragically, Master Carter died as a result of a stab wound to the chest. Obviously, that's an unnatural cause of death."

The inquest was adjourned, not to be resumed until the conclusion of a criminal investigation by GMP's Major Incident Team.

At the time of writing, 10 teenagers are understood to be under investigation.

Another three have been arrested, but then eliminated from the investigation.

GMP's Major Incident Team continue to appeal to the public to come forward with information or footage from Thirlmere Avenue, Moss Road or Victoria Road on the evening of January 22.
