A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has died after he was stabbed to death in Stretford.

Here's what we know up until now.

  • The victim is 16-year-old Kennie Carter who lived on Ennerdale Road.
  • Kennie was discovered with stab wounds on Thirlmere Avenue on the evening of January 22, 2022. He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, but died of a stab wound to the chest.
  • A police cordon was in place at the scene over the weekend and into the start of the week, with tents on Thirlmere Avenue and also on Coniston Road. The cordon and other scenes in the area were removed as the week went on.
  • In the days and weeks after Kennie's death, several teenagers were arrested. All of them were eliminated from the investigation or released under investigation.
  • After an investigation of 22 months, a total of ten teenagers were charged with murder in connection of the death. They included Jabriel Ferguson, 18, of Old Trafford, and Rashaun Williams, 18, of Staffordshire. The others, all of whom are under 18 and two of whom are as young as 14, cannot be named for legal reasons.
  • Kennie's relatives made an emotional tribute to the 'cheeky chappy'. They said: "His death has left a massive hole in our lives and our family has been destroyed. We will never have the opportunity to see him growing up and having a family of his own."
  • Andrew Western, the leader of Trafford Council at the time of the incident, tweeted: "This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with Kennie's family and friends. It's so sad to see this happen in Trafford."
  • Kate Green, the MP for Stretford and Urmston at the time of the incident, tweeted: "This is tragic. Another young life lost to knife crime. Knives don't keep anyone safe. Don't carry them."
