RESIDENTS have a little more than a week to share their thoughts on Trafford Council's proposals for Altrincham Leisure Centre.

A consultation on the multi-million-pound investment started earlier in the month, and it runs until January 30.

Proposals for the Oakfield Road site include a 100-station gym, 25-metre and 20-metre swimming pools, studios and a sports hall.

They also include air source heat pumps and solar panels as the council continues to strive for carbon neutrality.

Before contributing to the consultation, residents can learn about the proposals thanks to information boards at Altrincham Leisure Centre and Altrincham Library.

There is also an online presentation at 6pm on January 24.

Cllr Liz Patel, the council's executive member for culture and leisure, said: "We are committed to the health and wellbeing of our community, and a key element this is to improve our much loved leisure centres, bringing them up to date.

"The first step in the process is to ask our community what would help them to be more physically active and what facilities they would like to see at Altrincham Leisure Centre. We ask people to take the time to view our extensive plans and contribute to our consultation."

Jo Cherrett, chief executive of Trafford Leisure, added: "We value your opinions and we urge the community to once again share their voice on the council’s proposals, as this will help us to move to the next stage swiftly and effectively.

"We have learnt a lot from the recent and successful redevelopment of Move Urmston and are looking forward to supporting Trafford Council in making Move Altrincham a reality. We are particularly interested to hear from people who don’t currently use the leisure centre at the moment on what would encourage them to join, as well as from current members."
