UPDATE - THE A6144 Manchester Road, in Carrington, remains closed today following yesterday's flooding.
The road was closed after a drain collapsed on private land and caused the road to flood.
Although the drain is the responsibility of the landowner, the council stepped in to offer support. It has secured an industrial pump and work to pump away the water has started.
Motorists are advised to take the following diversion: Moss Lane, Sinderland Lane, Sinderland Road, A56 Manchester Road, Washway Road, Harboro Way, Harboro Road,Carrington Lane and vice versa.
