THREE of the top five most expensive streets in the north west are in either Bowdon or Hale Barns.

Figures released by Halifax put Barrow Lane in Hale Barns in first place, with an average property price of £3,706,000, based on transactions in the last five years.

It is followed by Stanhope Road and Theobald Road in Bowdon, with an average property price of £2,785,000 and £2,572,000 respectively.

The other streets in the top five – Underwood Road (£2,925,000) and Withinlee Road (£2,536,000) – are in Alderley Edge and Macclesfield.

Green Walk (£2,392,000), Bowdon, and Hill Top (£2,309,000), Hale Barns also appear in the top 10.

Although the average property price on these streets is eye-watering, it is nothing in comparison to the most expensive streets in the UK, all of which are in London.

The average on Tite Street in Chelsea is £28,902,000, which is more than ten times the national average.

And on Phillimore Gardens in Kensington and South Audley Street in Mayfair, buyers are looking at an average of £25,188,000 and £22,850,000 respectively.

Esther Dijkstra, mortgage director at Lloyds Bank, said: "London’s dominance of the top ten most expensive streets in the UK continues.

"However, much like house prices overall, homes in London have not experienced the same meteoric rise as other regions this year. Buyers with deep pockets might be starting to look beyond the capital for their next grand home."
