TRAFFORD'S Chill Factore is closed after Storm Barra's 'severe winds' caused damage to the building.

The emergency services were called to the indoor ski slope in Trafford Park at around 1pm on Tuesday.

Photos shared on social media at around the same time showed damage to Chill Factore's Beyond, which a spokesperson said contractors were coming to assess.

They said: "The Beyond building has sustained some damage due to the severe winds. As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our building and surrounding car parks with immediate effect to protect the health and safety of our guests and team.

"All activities for the remainder of the day have been cancelled and we are in the process of contacting guests with bookings for today to rearrange their activities.

"We are awaiting contractors to come and assess the damage."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: "At around 1pm, firefighters were called to Chill Factore on Trafford Way after reports that the roof had been damaged.

"One fire engine from Eccles and tactical response units from Leigh and Tameside attended the scene.

"Firefighters used a ladder and other specialist equipment to assess the damage and make the area safe."

The indoor ski slope was closed for the rest of Tuesday, and at around 8.30pm, Chill Factore confirmed all activities for Wednesday were cancelled too.

"Bear with us," a spokesperson said.

It is not clear when Chill Factore is set to reopen, with another update due at 2pm on Wednesday.
