THE boundaries of all but one ward in Trafford are set to be changed, with some wards also set to be renamed.
Proposals from the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) suggest changing the boundaries of 20 wards, including the one between Stretford and Urmston.
They also suggest renaming Clifford, Priory and St Mary's as Old Trafford, Sale Priory and Manor respectively.
As a result of the proposals, a number of new wards are set to be created, including Western Parishes, covering the parishes of Carrington, Dunham Massey, Partington and Warburton.
Other new wards include Barton and Lostock, Timperley Central, Timperley North and Hale Barns and South Timperley, but the overall number of wards and councillors is unchanged.
The LGBCE is inviting residents and organisations to comment on the proposals in a consultation running for 10 weeks from Tuesday, November 30.
Professor Colin Mellors, chair of the LGBCE, said: "We want people in Trafford to help us – we have drawn up proposals for new wards in Trafford.
We want to make sure these new electoral arrangements reflect communities. We also want them to be easy to understand and convenient for people.
"Just tell us what you think and give us some details why you think it. It’s really simple, so do get involved."
