Detectives in Trafford are appealing for information after an attempted robbery and stabbing in Sale.

A 55-year-old man was attacked from behind on Epsom Avenue after he got off the number 19 bus from Sale at about 6.40PM on Tuesday 9 November 2021.

The victim was treated for stab wounds to his back at the scene by paramedics.

He is currently in hospital in a stable condition after being taken there for further treatment to his injuries.

The offender is described as a male in dark clothing, aged 17 or 18 with his face covered. The weapon is described as a large 'commando-style' knife.

Chief Superintendent Colette Rose, of GMP's Trafford district, said: "This was a cowardly act where a man has been attacked from behind.

"We are determined to catch the offender and require the support of the public to have the best chance of doing that.

"Were you on that bus and did you see anything?

"We are sure this attack must have been witnessed by someone or someone knows who is responsible - we would urge any witnesses or anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be, to contact police."
