A Trafford man has been sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to four counts of making indecent photographs of children.
Peter Waterworth, of Redbrook Road, Timperley, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Friday, October 29.
Waterworth, 87, was arrested on June 23, 2020 for an unrelated matter. When police seized several devices belonging to him, a number of manipulated images of boys and girls were found on his laptop and mobile phone.
His internet history also revealed he had visited multiple websites relating to teenage girls and had photo editing software installed.
Detective Inspector Helen Bagnall, of Trafford CID, said: "Peter Waterworth posed a significant threat to children, actively seeking out indecent images of children and editing them.
"When he has served his prison sentence, which he rightly deserves, he will continue to be registered as a sex offender for life with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order."
