MAGISTRATES handed a man from Bowdon a ban and a fine last week for drink driving in a McDonald's car park.

James Beckett, 31, of Catherine Road, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, October 5.

In September, Beckett drove his Volkswagen Polo in the car park of McDonald's in Altrincham while over the limit.

A breath test returned a result of more than twice the limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

After Beckett pleaded guilty to drink driving, magistrates handed him a 20-month ban and a fine totalling £239, including costs.

The ban will be reduced by 20 weeks if Beckett takes a drink driving rehabilitation course costing up to £250.
