Sale came out on top in the local derby matches against Brooklands in the Cheshire County League with the firsts securing a comfortable win while the seconds had the better of a draw.

Tyrone Lawrence produced a fine all-round performance for the firsts, taking 5-20 as Brooklands were bowled out for 103 then scoring 32 as they chased the target with modest ease.

Dan Newton got Sale off the perfect start removing Oli Bowdon for two with Amlyn Layton taking the next wicket with the score on 42.

Brookfields then collapsed from 53-2 to 73-8 and while the tail wagged briefly, they were dismissed in the 48th over.

James Dodds (25) and Lawrence put Sale in control and despite the loss of Newton for 16 with the scores level, Sam Hunt saw Sale to their target and 25 points and putting a big dent in Brooklands' promotion ambitions at they accrued just two points.

The seconds batted first against their Brooklands counterparts at Dane Road and were bowled out for 194 with Viraj Sorathia top scoring with a fine 70 – his third 50 in as many matches.

Saad Khan then took three wickets but they could not bowl Brooklands out and had to settle for the favourable draw and 13 points.

Didsbury put a dent in Sale thirds' title ambitions after then won by six wickets while Sale fourths picked up a welcome win as they routed Ashley 5s.

Ashton on Mersey came back from a seemingly hopeless position to pull off a dramatic victory against Mobberley at The Beets.

Batting first, Ashton were bowled out for 101 with Zohaib Khan (26) and Tom Anders (31) making what proved to be vital contributions.

Ashton reduced Mobberley to 7-3 but recovered to add 72 without further loss but some superb spin bowling by Zaheer Khan sparked the most dramatic of collapses, claiming 6-6 as they were bowled out for 95.

Ashton seconds continued their great season with a win at Neston. Neston 199-8 (Harry Beddard 60) Ashton 200-6 (Noman Ghous 57 not out, Mark Weighill 51, James Newton 49) while the thirds beat Macclesfield.
