A MAN has been spared jail after officers caught him trying car door handles in Davyhulme.
David Ryan, 39, of John Heywood Street in Manchester, was handed a suspended sentence at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Monday for offences committed last week.
Magistrates sentenced Ryan to 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, after he pleaded guilty to vehicle interference and handling stolen goods.
Last Friday, officers on patrol in Davyhulme arrested Ryan after spotting him trying car door handles.
A search of Ryan's vehicle then found store cards in someone else's name.
Ryan will not go to jail unless the conditions of the sentence are breached.
