TRAFFORD Council is relaunching its selection of free summer activities for children in partnership with the borough's top sports clubs.

Summer of Sport has been running for two years already, and it is being run again thanks to funding from the Department for Education.

The council is putting on a range of activities at locations across the borough and funding places on them for children receiving free school meals.

Also involved in putting on the activities are Manchester United Foundation, Sale Sharks Community Trust, Lancashire Cricket Foundation, Altrincham FC in the Community, Swinton Lions, Salford Reds, Foundation 92 and The Urban Fitness Collective (TUF*C).

As well as joining in with the activities, all eligible children get a free, healthy lunch on each day.

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: "It’s been a tough year for our children - school closures have meant missing out on PE lessons, the walk to school and playing out with friends.

"We're delighted to be shaking things up with our Summer of Sport."

Some sessions have a limited capacity, so places are not guaranteed.
