AT THE end of last year, Dr Kershaw’s launched a recruitment drive for new trustees who could bring different skills to the board at the hospice, after existing trustees reached the end of their three year terms.
The new trustees who started in April, have hit the ground running, bringing with them a depth of experience and knowledge which will support the hospice strategically.
Joining the board with responsibility for the governance of the hospice, along with the eight existing trustees, are retired clinical nurse specialist, Kim Wrigley, director independent organisational and development consultant and registered nurse, Jacquie Wood, head of business development at PG Mutual, Stephen Schofield and banking solicitor Partner at Knights PLC, Jonathan Edwards.
As a Registered Nurse, Jacquie has used her clinical background to support the NHS and care organisations who are planning major changes, she said: “I have worked with Dr Kershaw’s for several years as a consultant and volunteer and my parents also received end-of-life care at the hospice. I like the organisation, its values, the people and thought I could use my skills to give something back to the organisation who helped my family so much.”
Jonathan added: “I applied to be a trustee so that I could make a contribution to the outstanding charity that is Dr Kershaw’s and hope that my corporate and commercial knowledge as well as experience of the challenge of governance in charitable organisations will help to support the hospice.”
