Have you faced any challenges within the industry? The licensing act (2003) introduced in 2005 changed the uniqueness of the British pub and the smoking ban in 2007 was a negative in terms of trade levels but did create a much more comfortable and pleasant pub visit experience. The high duty that we pay on ales and lagers in the UK is very challenging and more recently, covid.

The best thing about running a pub is... Meeting different characters and being a focal hub in the local community.

The worst thing about running a pub is...Dealing with undesirable customers and long hours.

Perfect hangover cure...Hair of the dog.
