AS the country prepares to cheer on England in the Euros this weekend pub owners in Oldham are preparing to welcome supporters for a good time.

The excitement is mounting for Sunday when England play their first match, taking on Croatia at 2pm on home turf at Wembley Stadium, London.

It will be broadcast on the BBC - but where will you be watching it, and the team's other Group D matches against Scotland on June 18 and Czech Republic on June 22.

Stuart Phurston is the landlord of the Highfield Inn in Ripponden Road.

He said that he always makes an effort for the Euros and the World Cup and the lads from the pub team Moorside FC will be there to cheer England on.

Stuart said: "We always go all out when England are playing and we certainly need to raise the spirits this year.

"Obviously we will have to be a bit more careful this year because of the restrictions, but we will be getting in the mood.

"We will be starting at 12 with all the bulid-up and have the football anthems playing to get you all in the mood. Followed by Play Your Cards Right with a chance to win £280.

"I am confident that England will win this year. But I always say that."

The Summit Inn, in Rochdale Road is currently taking bookings via the Greene King app ahead of Sunday's match.

The Old Bank in Yorkshire Street is accepting walk-ins and the pub has five flat screen televisions scattered around the pub.

A perfect location to get a good view.

The Colliers Arms in Old Lane will be welcoming families for food and football to be viewed on a 160 inch HD TV.

The pub also has a beer garden and play area outside.
