Swindon ambulance station is taking part in an Outrun an Ambulance challenge for the South Western Ambulance Charity.
The challenge involves clocking up at least one mile more than the mileage that an emergency ambulance typically covers in one shift over the next few months.
Mike Anning, the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Operations Officer based in Trowbridge, says: “Our teams are running, walking and cycling hundreds of miles between them each week during May, June and July.
"It’s been fantastic to see our colleagues getting stuck into the challenge after an extremely challenging year.
“We are asking the public to consider getting behind their local ambulance colleagues by making a donation to the South Western Ambulance Charity to benefit our communities and improve the welfare of our colleagues and volunteers.
"We genuinely appreciate every single donation.”
Other South West stations taking part are Devizes, Trowbridge, Chippenham, Warminster, Bath, Marlborough and Salisbury.
