A WOMAN has been treated for cuts and bruises after she was chased across a road and through traffic by a knifeman.

At about 4.10pm on Friday, May 7, a woman was seen to run across traffic in Lewes Road, Eastbourne, being chased by a man who was carrying a knife.

As the woman in her late thirties, approached the front door of a house, she was then grabbed by the man and was pulled back across the road into a flat in Lewes Road near Enys Road.

Police then arrived and chased two suspects, making arrests shortly afterwards.

Two men both aged 19 were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

One was also arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and possessing a Class A drug.

After being interviewed they were released on police bail until June 4 while enquiries continue.

The woman was treated for a knife injury to her arm, and cuts and bruising.

Detective Constable Linda Hoad said; "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have dashboard footage that may provide further evidence.
