POLICE are appealing for information after a teenager girl was forced into the back of a car and abducted.

The 16-year-old was made to get into the back of a silver vehicle by a ‘young man’ outside a convenience store on Cherry Lane in Lymm at around 7.45am on Tuesday, May 11.

She has since been located ‘safe and well’ and did not suffer any injuries during the incident.

Cheshire Police have since arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of kidnapping in relation to the incident, although he had been released on conditional bail.

Detective constable Sophie Davies said: “I want to reassure the public that this was a targeted incident, and since it was reported to police we have been following a number of lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances around what exactly has taken place.

“As part of that, we believe a number of people were present at the time it took place and may have seen what occurred and I am encouraging them to come forward and get in touch with us – in particular, a man who is believed to have been walking a dog at the time and challenged the man while it was occurring.

“If this is you, please do contact us.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the force on 101, quoting incident number IML985170, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
