The Lighthouse in Poole reopens with a line-up of incredible acts ready to inspire visitors. 

As it prepares to reopen to the public next week Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, is welcoming the warmer weather with some fantastic additions to its Lighthouse: OUTSIDE season of performances outdoors in the Amphitheatre.

With the global music flavours of Soothsayers, We Afro Tallaweh and Thokozile Collective, as well as the funk-soul flavoured ‘odd pop’ of Pattern Pusher, there’s plenty of beat to move the feet under summer skies.

Add to that the off-the-cuff comedy brilliance of Black Cherry Improv and Squashbox Theatre’s tremendous guide to trees and there’s something for all the family to enjoy in the great outdoors at Lighthouse this summer. 

Looking further ahead the Lighthouse welcome the UK’s top podcast, No Such Thing As A Fish, to record a special episode of Nerd Immunity; while lexicographers and wordsmiths of all kinds will be overjoyed to learn the etymological entertainer of TV’s Countdown, Susie Dent, is heading our way next year.

Lighthouse OUTSIDE: Upswing: Circus Flavours 
Saturday 5 June, Amphitheatre, 12.30pm, 1.15pm, 2.30pm 3.15pm, 4.30pm, 5.15pm 
A showcase of diverse, energetic circus acts followed by workshops for the audience. For anyone who’s dreamt of joining the circus, this is a perfect chance to try out your skills in a self-contained, immersive and fun session. Age guidance: 7+ 

Lighthouse OUTSIDE: Black Cherry Improv 
Friday 18 June, Amphitheatre, 7pm  
A night of comedy that takes audience participation to the next level. Your suggestions could be turned into a scene, a song, a skit or evening become a smash hit musical! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see this epic improvised comedy show. Age guidance: 12+ 

Lighthouse OUTSIDE: Squashbox Theatre – Tales from the Trees 
Saturday 19 June, Amphitheatre, 11am, 2pm  
From branch to leaf and twig to root, from berry to blossom and bark to fruit.. Tales from the Trees is a terrific tangle of puppetry, storytelling, live music and comedy, with a theme that embraces natural history, folklore and ecology. Age guidance: 5+ 

Lighthouse OUTSIDE: Pattern Pusher 
Saturday 19 June, Amphitheatre, 7pm  
Pattern Pusher are an energetic funk-soul three piece who create uplifting, inspiring and optimistic music that is hitting all the right notes in a world crying out for positivity. Before lockdown the band and had just won the Glastonbury Pilton Party competition (judged by Michael Eavis) which led them to playing in front of 8,000 people supporting Supergrass and Wolf Alice and had performed all over the UK and on main stages at festivals such as Bearded Theory and Beautiful Days.
