A BURY man caught with a knife in public has been jailed for 26 weeks by Greater Manchester magistrates.

Keiron William Wild was already the subject of a community order when he committed the offence in Oldham, the Manchester and Salford court was told.

The 29-year-old, of Parkhills Road, was arrested in the town's Peal Street on May 3 in possession of a steak knife, the court heard.

Wild had previously been made the subject of a 12-month community order in June 2020 for offences of sending offensive of obscene messages via a public telecommunications system and common assault in the Salford area.

Magistrates imposed a 24-week jail term after Wild pleaded guilty of possession of an offensive weapon in relation to the most recent offence. And he was given a two-week consecutive sentence for the community order breach.
