COACHES and parents of a junior rugby league team are set to walk from Leeds to Warrington for charity.
Members of the Bank Quay Bulls community will be taking on the 58-mile route from Leeds Rhinos’ Headingley Stadium to Warrington Wolves’ Halliwell Jones Stadium in aid of the MND Association on May 29.
The walk, which will kick off at 2am and take around 20 hours to complete, is being held in honour of Rob Burrow – the 38-year-old Rhinos legend who has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
Bulls chairman Kelly Cragg said: “I’m extremely proud of the u13s coaches and parents doing this walk – we at the club feel very proud to be doing something special for Rob.
“Being a Leeds Rhinos fan myself, it’s heart-breaking to watch.
“We have also added the number seven and Burrow to the sleeve of our new kits.
“Both coaches and parents have been training hard over the past few months, doing lengthy walks – you can see the passion they have for it.
“I wish them the best of luck, and all the Bulls are behind them every step of the way.”
