MAHDLO Youth Zone is set to commemorate its late chief executive Mike Doran, who passed away as a result of Covid-19 a year ago on Saturday (April 24).

Claire Crossfield from Mahdlo said: "It sounds like an awful long time (since he died), yet in the blink of an eye it's gone.

"We are all just as much heartbroken and saddened as the day we heard news of our dear friend and faithful colleague.

"We're also still in disbelief that 12 months on we are still under the restrictions imposed on us to protect one another from such a cruel virus."

Staff and volunteers are still unable to gather together at the Youth Zone to celebrate Mike's life.

In a message to supporters and users, Claire said: "We would like to mark the first anniversary of his death in a way which Mike would have enjoyed … with family and friends, and hope you can too join us.

"We are still in contact with his family and ask if you are remembering him this weekend in your own way, we ask that you take a quick picture and email it to me to enable us to create a collage of images to share with his family to let them know we are thinking of them at such a difficult time."
