A MOUNTAINOUS challenge by youth zone Mahdlo as organiser bid to raise about £215,000 has been boosted by a local sponsor.

James Scott Accountants have now been unveiled as sponsors of Mahdlo 3 Peaks of Saddleworth, which takes place on Saturday, July3.

Matthew Taylor, Partner, from the Middleton based firm said: “This will be our fourth year taking part and it’s a great way to bring our team together, out of the office, raising funds for a local charity working with young people in Oldham.”

Mahdlo fundraising manager Claire Crossfield added: “We really are grateful for the support of James Scott.

"The 3 Peaks is a fantastic event and we’re proud they’ve chosen to sponsor it. As a charity we rely on businesses and local community to help us raise the £215,000 needed this year. We really can’t thank them enough."

The 3 Peaks of Saddleworth has been running since 2016 and has taken a firm spot as one of charities' largest annual fundraising events, growing in popularity year on year with record numbers entering in 2019 raising an incredible £13,000.

The walk, which is around 15 miles, will take on local landmarks Indian’s Head, Pots and Pans and Wharmton Hill.

The route is challenging, but achievable, and walkers are rewarded by some incredible views of Oldham and beyond.

It’s just £20 to enter and Mahdlo is asking that participants commit to raising a minimum of £30.

In return for signing up, walkers will receive a commemorative t-shirt, medal, breakfast, picnic, refreshments along the route, and post-walk food at The Royal George.

They will also receive support for their fundraising efforts, including help with setting up a fundraising page, social media banners, sponsorship forms, etc.

Anyone who would like to register for the event or have any questions, should contact Claire by emailing events@mahdloyz.org or calling 0161 624 0111.
