THE Garrick Playhouse, Altrincham, has come up with another post-lockdown production, writes Julia Taylor.

This one gives young people from the Garrick Ensemble, aged 18 to 30, their annual chance to shine in Chatroom.

Written by Enda Walsh, it has been described as The Computer Age Lord of the Flies.

Showing from July 19-24 for 75 minutes without an interval, this play will send a chill down your spine. It is a blackly comic tale about manipulation, cyber-bullying and adolescent insecurity.

In a quiet corner of the internet, a group of bored, restless teenagers spend their time deconstructing children’s literature and the messages in modern pop music.

The conversation takes a darker turn when a new member joins and shares with them his depression and thoughts of suicide.

Audiences are warned that the play contains strong language.

Tickets are now also on sale from boxffice@altrinchamgarrick.co.uk for: Musical, The Last Five Years – June 7-12   (socially distanced); The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) - June 21-26 (socially distanced); Panto, Peter Pan – December 10, 2021-January 3, 2022.
