ACCRINGTON Stanley have joined the tributes to Steve Jagielka, after their former player died at the age of 43.
The midfielder was part of the Reds side who won the Conference title in 2006 and was a big favourite during his time at the Crown Ground.
Stanley said: “Everyone at ASFC is absolutely devastated to hear of the death of former midfielder Steve Jagielka.
“Steve made history with the Reds, playing a big part as Stanley won the Conference title in 2006.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this tragic time.”
The older brother of Sheffield United defender Phil, Jagielka was with Stanley from 2004 to 2006 having earlier played with distinction for Shrewsbury Town.
Sale-born, he came through the ranks at Stoke and also played for the Blades and AFC Telford United among others.
