A DEVELOPER is encouraging house buyers in Trafford region to look into the benefits of buying new — and seeing how much they could save on their energy bills.

At a time when families across the UK are keen to ensure that every penny counts, house hunters could save hundreds of pounds a year on energy bills if they choose a new-build home over an equivalent older property.

According to a report from the Home Builders Federation (HBF), running costs in new homes are far lower. Thanks to the development of efficient and eco-friendly home building technology, new homeowners can save around 60% each year on heating costs – the most expensive utility. That equates to over £440 pounds worth of savings on heating costs alone each year.

Big Energy Saving Week, part of Big Energy Saving Winter is a national campaign run in partnership between Citizens Advice, the Energy Saving Trust and the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to help people cut their fuel bills and get all the financial support they are entitled to.

This is the eighth year the scheme has run, and it highlights how we all have the power to save energy, money and the environment through everyday actions.

James Clark, regional sales director for Bloor Homes North West, said: “All of our homes are designed using new build techniques and the latest technologies, which help our homeowners to enjoy lower energy bills.

“Modern double glazing, quality insulation in the roofs and walls, as well as the latest energy efficient boilers for heating and hot water, combine to reduce consumption and heat loss as well as delivering a 60% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, making them better for our homeowners’ wallets and for the planet.

“What’s more, buying a new build means less time and money on maintenance, with all our new properties coming with a 10-year warranty as standard, leaving our buyers free to enjoy their spare time.”
