The coronavirus infection rate has fallen in Trafford and across the rest of Greater Manchester.

The latest figures released today by Public Health England show that the rolling seven day rate of cases has fallen across all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester.

All but one of the boroughs now have infection rates below 400 per 100,000 residents, with Trafford's rate falling below 400.

In the seven days to January 17 Trafford recorded 857 positive coronavirus cases, equalling an infection rate of 361.1 per 100,000 residents, down from 458.4 the previous week (January 10).

Oldham is now recording the lowest infection rate in the region, and is the only borough recording a rate below 300 per 100,000 residents at 291.4.

Bury, Wigan, Salford and Rochdale all experienced significant falls in their infection rate.

Each was recording a rate well above 400 per 100,000 residents last week, with all now recording a rate below that.

Manchester is the only borough to have an infection rate above 400 per 100,000 at 436.3 despite the rate falling from 478.2.
