A public consultation has been launched on revised proposals for a new hotel development in Stretford.

North West-based Create Developments is bringing forward plans for a new, high quality hotel, car parking space and landscaping at land off Barton Road.

A previous planning application was considered by Trafford Council earlier this year.

Since then, Create Developments has considered the feedback received on the application from the local community. These revised proposals have been designed to address the points raised.

The proposals will deliver a new, high quality hotel operated by an internationally recognised brand, representing a £16m investment in the local area.

The height of the hotel building has been reduced by two storeys and the number of bedrooms within the building have been reduced by 25%.

The proposed hotel would now be seven storeys and contain 147 bedrooms and 147 car parking spaces will be delivered at the site, providing a space for each bedroom. This is an increase of 20 spaces from the original application.

The delivery of this development will regenerate a disused, vacant brownfield site. As part of the proposals, the modern, high quality building design will be accompanied by new areas of landscaping and planting. The development team will also be working with local community groups to provide community landscaping, such as a new wellbeing garden for the residents of the Circle Court Apartments, which is separate to this application.

Gill Mathison, spokesperson for Create Developments, said: "We have taken time to reflect on the comments we received on our previous proposals and have revised the scheme to address the feedback received from residents and other stakeholders. We are confident that our new plans will deliver a development that will benefit the community and provide significant economic benefits for Trafford.

“Before a planning application is submitted, we are launching a public consultation. We are looking forward to engaging with residents and stakeholders and using their feedback to shape our final proposals.”

Due to current restrictions and social distancing guidelines, local people can find out more about the proposals and submit their feedback in various ways, including: visiting the consultation website and completing a feedback form at www.bartonroadhotelconsultation.co.uk, calling the dedicated community information line (Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm) on 0333 358 0502 or emailing comments and questions to bartonroadhotelconsultation@havingyoursay.co.uk

The public consultation will run from Tuesday 10th November until Tuesday 24th November 2020. All comments received will be taken into consideration before a planning application is submitted later in 2020.
