To celebrate World Polio Day, Altrincham town hall was turned 'purple4polio' last weekend.
This year, Africa was declared polio free and since 1985, when Rotary worldwide joined forces with World Health Organisation, when millions of people were affected each year the figure has decreased after over 2.5 billion children were vaccinated.
President of Altrincham Rotary, Ken Garrity says that hopefully we will see the last of this pandemic in the next few years.
Only the second after smallpox to be eradicated.
