ONE more patient has now died at Royal Bolton Hospital after contracting coronavirus.

Latest figures from NHS England confirmed that the death of another person being treated at the borough’s hospital had been linked to coronavirus.

The patient, who died on Wednesday, is the 234th person to die at the hospital with covid-19.

Yesterday, 76 new cases of covid-19 were confirmed across the borough.

A total of 3,589 cases of coronavirus have now been diagnosed across Bolton since the start of the pandemic.

Statistics shared with The Bolton News have revealed that as of Wednesday afternoon, around 60 per cent of the week's new cases had been seen in residents over 65.

The latest update came as the proportion of people in England receiving an in-person Covid-19 test result within the Government’s 24-hour target period has hit its lowest point since the middle of June.

A third of people who were tested between September 2 - 9 received a result in 24 hours – down from just under two thirds the week before.
