AN up-and-coming indie band performed their first gig since lockdown - thanks to an Altrincham firm.

Instead of their usual set up performing in Manchester’s local pubs, Spangled's gig was live streamed by Events/AV Specialist, Keyteq, from their new virtual studio.

The performance featured the band’s new single, ‘Turmoil’, in an hour-long set, which included a few new original pieces.

Spangled, an indie alternative band from Manchester, is made up of lead singer, Ben Johnson, guitarist, Jamie Halliday, bass guitarist, Niall McGovern and drummer, Nathan Kenyon.

The band, who were formed in 2019, performed their last gig in March and have been keen to get back to performing ever since.

Lead singer Ben Johnson, from Timperley said: “It was great to have the opportunity to perform live again.

“ It was really strange not having an audience to perform to but Keyteq’s virtual studio was really professional and like nothing we’ve ever experienced before.

“The response we had online was amazing – I guess it’s the new normal now, isn’t it!”

Oldfield Brow based Keyteq recently set up the virtual studio in their Altrincham premises, after the coronavirus pandemic brought a great many live events to a standstill.

They say the virtual studio boasts state-of-the-art equipment and offers peace of mind, as skilled operators are on-hand to provide technical support and ensure all virtual events run smoothly.

Jo Jenkinson, director and co-founder of Keyteq, said: “It was great to see the studio come to life with local band, Spangled, live-streaming from the stage.

“The interest and demand for virtual events has increased significantly in recent months and will continue to grow as organisations look to communicate and collaborate in safe and creative ways.

“Our virtual studio offers a safe space for businesses, charities, and organisations to produce professional, high-quality live or pre-recoded, online events.

“Strict measures are in place at our studio with regards to social-distancing and cleanliness to ensure we protect our clients and staff.”
