BUILDING is complete for a new multi-million pound UK headquarters for a US-owned medical products company to house 100 new jobs for East Lancashire.

The complex for Orthoplastics is on Bacup’s Futures Park commercial estate.

The new headquarters was a joint venture between Rossendale Council and Barnfield Construction supported by a government Growth Deal grant of £1.525m.

Orthoplastics, which produces medical products such as knee replacements, mainly for the global export market, has leased the council-owned building for 25 years.

Rossendale Borough leader Cllr Alyson Barnes said: “It’s great to see a multi million-pound investment go into the Bacup and Stacksteads area.

“The new factory will provide an estimated 100 new quality jobs as part of the expansion of production in the borough.

“The Growth Deal bid that was a competitive process was secured by the council’s economic development team and this helped to support the business case for the council investment.”
