A BOROUGH has launched an activity programme to counter the impact of coronavirus on residents.

The 'Let’s Move Hyndburn' will target shielded and socially vulnerable residents

It estimates this includes 5,600 people.

Hyndburn Leisure's Up and Active team will deliver a health and wellbeing digital programme through virtual group sessions, phone calls and email.

A council spokeswoman said: "Health activators are delivering a programme of work to help reduce the negative impact of Covid-19 and the widening of the inequalities in sport and physical activity that will motivate and enable people to be more active.

"We recognise that this community of people have been and possibly currently still advised against leaving their homes and we aim to provide activities and mentor support to increase their activity levels."
